Birthday Greetings for Onionboy

Okay, I hope I get this right as I believe Onionboys birthday is the 23rd or 24th. In any event, please wish him a very Happy Birthday sometime over the next few days. He is truly a great friend and deserves a big Happy Birthday! So, here's to your next trip around the sun, Onionboy! May God continue to Bless you!
As an added bonus, here's a cute picture of Dusty courtesy of Roo!

Rawhide end of the day watering hole

Look at the smile on Mr D's face as he gets ready to shake off the desert dust and do a shot of Jack Daniels. He worked so hard that day taking all those pictures of me and Roo running around Rawhide.

Don't worry, I was driving and he even made a friend of the bartender who is a US citizen that came over from Turkey. The people that work at Rawhide are really nice. This was our last stop before we had to mosey back out on I10 to beat the traffic back to the West side of Phoenix.

Rawhide Bull Riding

Here's Roo trying her luck at staying on the mechanical bull for a few seconds before getting bucked off.

Rawhide Gunfight II

Okay, so the tourists weren't too scared of the gunfighters as they made their way right through it a few times.

Must have been all of those drive by's that preconditioned them to gunfire. LOL

Rawhide gunfight

Okay, what good western show would not be complete without a good ole fashioned gunfight? This one was pretty funny and the cowboys were pretty good. Take a look and don't get shot.

Rawhide Train

Here's a great relaxing ride when you are through panning for gold or riding the camel. Ride the train.

Rawhide Miner

Well, here are two photos of Roo and Mr D goofing around that I just had to post.

Rawhide Wall Climb?

I really do not know what the fascination is with this, but everywhere we go, if there is one of these wall climbing contraptions, Roo is always on it.

Rawhide Camel Star named Joe

Here's a picture taken of the three of us, by one of the Rawhide wrangler's while Joe was on break. We needed to stand clear as he could spit pretty far. See how he poses nicely and so relaxed? He was just so "Joe Cool" for a camel

Rawhide Camel?

Okay, now here is where I had to question the authenticity of a camel at Rawhide, but apparently this camel is a former movie star. He was in the Mummy and Mummy returns. Yes, Phoenix is in a desert so perhaps that is why the camel was there. He even got a 10 minute break from people every two hours, so he was "performing" under contract. Complete with stubborness. Take a look at these shots of this guy and Roo and I going for a ride

Rawhide cool off

Here is Roo enjoying a cool break with ice cream in the air conditioned ice cream parlor. Pardon me, I didn't know they had air conditioning in the old days. LOL

Rawhide Jail

Here is the Rawhide Jail. Where you can send your relative's to jail or get the JP to perform a shotgun wedding. Either one will cost ya $10.00.

Rawhide General Store

Here's Roo and I stopping for a quick photo opportunity. Notice, there are not a lot of people around yet. (it was 2 PM and about 90 something) only us Texas Tourist fools would be out in the heat!

Rawhide Entrance

Every place of course has an entrance! So here I am at the front!

Rawhide

If ever ya get a chance to visit "Rawhide" it is a pretty fun place to take the kids. Of course, they moved it from the old place (over by Scottsdale) but on the south side of Phoenix, the new place by Chandler, is really cool. They are open in the afternoon into evening (probably too hot to go out). As it was Springbreak they opened at 2 PM.

Made it to the top!

This is a view from the top of the mountain looking back toward Phoenix and the morning "smog". Yuck, glad to be up where the air was cleaner!

Riding the South Mountain Trail

Mr D took these while we were traveling through the brush.

Roo getting on Mulie!

What a trooper! Roo was so excited to be able to ride by herself! She's getting last minute instructions from one of the wrangler's on Mulie's temperment.

Getting ready for the morning ride!

Me getting ready to get my horse!

Giddyap! Hayburner!

One morning, while on our trip we took Roo out for her first horseback trail ride. It was a beautiful morning that was cool and then heated up for our 2 hour ride through the South Mountain National Park. Roo's horse was named Mulie, I rode Wanda, and Mr D rode "Grass". I told him he had a 60's horse! LOL Here are the series of photos to enjoy!

Mesa Game field

I had to have my picture taken in front of the field as proof that I was there!

Cubs vs Mariner's Final score

Yep! I got a picture of the final score as proof they won! 9 -3 Take that! you non-believers! Cubs Rule!

Cubs vs Mariners

Enclosed are more fun pictures of the Cubs game. And, they won 9 -3! Wahoo!

We sat on the visitor's side, but at least I got a good picture of the dugout!

2007 rewind!

My goodness! I have been too lax in updating this blog. A lot has been happening, so let's start with some fun pictures and hopefully, I will be able to bring everyone up to date! Let's start off with my 10th wedding anniversary trip that we took in the middle of March. It was great! We went to my father-in-laws house as my 9 yr old was on springbreak and I was wanting to go to take in a Spring Training game. We also did lots of fun stuff too!
